Flood

Can't wait to get out of this apartment... we are patiently waiting for the other buyer (who is going to bankruptcy court) to release his contract so we can have the house. Our Realtor has spoken to the seller and she wants us to get the house, but both parties have to release the contract. Do'h, annoying! Hopefully we will get good news soon. Today was wet... the washing machine in the apartment above decided to flood. We heard a dripping noise and realized water was coming out of our fire alarm, and then the noise began. The fire alarms went off for 3 hours until the 'emergency' maintenance man showed up. Emergency? ha yeah right! We put out trash cans to collect the water and patiently waited for help. Ruined our day and the carpet is still wet. Apparently it will dry because we have the heat on? Right. They are bringing a dehumidifier tomorrow to dry out the wet walls. Ah is February 21st here yet???? Can't wait to move out!

BVIs here I come, June 9th - 16th...wahoo!

My Mom and Dad celebrate their 35th Anniversary this June and wanted to celebrate at their favorite place... a boat on the water (preferably the BVIs). They were sweet enough to invite my brother Kory, Fraser, their 2 Canadian friends and I to jump aboard. We will be departing June 9th and returning June 16th. I realize this is a ways away but I'm so freaking excited I couldn't contain myself. Look at the pictures below, paradise! We will be aboard a 38 foot catamaran which is huge and paradise because I can lounge on 2 huge nets of rope and get sprayed with water. We can all snorkel and scuba dive and go to soggy dollar bars. Ah can't wait! It is 18 degrees outside so I'm looking forward to hot water and the beach. Cheers!

SparkPeople

2009 has arrived and so has my New Year's Resolution. The past couple of years I skipped a New Year's Resolution because 1) I thought I was in shape and didn't need to loose weight or 2) knew I wouldn't follow through with the resolution, so what was the point in trying? The past 2-3 months I've put on weight, and worst of all haven't had time to exercise which worries me... risk of osteoporosis, I'm more tired, low self esteem, etc... time to get in shape! Motivation is an issue of mine and I have no problem admitting it. Journal writing has helped me stay motivated in the past but this year I needed more. I discovered SparkPeople and it has really helped me (the past 4 days) stay motivated and I've lost a pound. I realize that is only a pound and most likely water weight but it is motivating! I keep track of the food I eat, the exercise I perform, my weight, can talk to others on message boards, get motivating emails, and have a constant reminder to be good to myself. I've also found a Traumatic Brain Injury page and am speaking to others with the same past as me. I'm hopefully convincing them after 3 years things get better and patience is needed after a TBI. I wanted to share the web page with others frustrated during these cold winter months. I'm feeling very motivated and will update everyone on my weight loose success. Wahoo!

Pilots N Paws

My mom called me today to tell me about the story on the front page of the Sunday paper. It was a loving story that she read me over the phone (made both of us cry). The program is called Pilots N Paws and a pilot (and other voluntary pilots) take abused animals to new homes. The story spoke about a Beagle who had been abused by his owner... when he was picked up and put into the back of the plane he wagged his tail the entired flight on the way to his new home. The dog knew he was being taken to a better place, where he would be loved. Check the web page and if you know a pilot who can volunteer please pass on the word. Most importantly if you personally know of a dog that is being abused let Pilots N Paws know, so the dog can be flown to a better home :)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! These pictures are in reverse order... starting with the had too much to drink pictures and ending with sober photographs. What a year it has been, so much to celebrate! There will be challenges ahead but I'm feeling very positive about Obama and how the economy will eventually improve. Hopefully sooner than later! My new job is going great and I'm doing a lot more design work than previous jobs. My health has improved to the point where I feel like the car accident never happened, wahoo! The brain is an amazing thing and mine is slowly healing. My New Years resolution is to be 'consistent'... I'm going to be consistent with my workouts and going to the gym. No slacking off anymore, time to get fit! Happy New Year!
